VIKRAM IYENGAR
- Artistic Director
Initiated into Kathak by Smt. Rani Karnaa, Vikram Iyengar is a Grade A solo artist with Doordarshan, and is registered with several prestigious institutions like the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the Sangeet Natak Akademi and Kathak Kendra, Delhi; the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Calcutta; and the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Mumbai. He has performed across India and also travelled to USA, UK, Hong Kong, Moscow, Qatar and Bhutan. A recipient of the Government of India National Scholarship and National Junior Fellowship, he holds a Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad. An INLAKS scholar with an MA in Performing Arts from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, he has taught Asian and Intercultural Theatre at BA and MA levels in the UK, contributed articles to various publications, presented papers at international seminars, conducted a variety of workshops and worked on several arts research projects for institutions in India and abroad. ANUBHA FATEHPURIA – Anubha has been associated with a number of Calcutta performance groups as an actress in Hindi, English and Bengali productions. She has worked with directors such as Habib Tanvir, Jayant Kripalani, Shyamanand Jalan and Suman Mukhopadhyay, and has also done voiceovers for film and dance presentations. She trained in Bharatnatyam under Smt. Thankamani Kutty and Smt. Sonal Mansingh, and in Manipuri under Smt. Priti Patel. She has basic workshop experience of Mohiniattam, Kalaripayattu and Thang Ta, and extensive training in Hindustani Vocal from Smt. Girija Devi and Smt. Mitali Sengupta. Anubha recently received the Shyamal Sen Smriti Samman from Swapnasandhani for her theatre work. |
DEBASHREE BHATTACHARYA – Coordinator: Dance Training and Dance Repertory
Trained in Kathak under Smt. Rani Karnaa, Debashree is an A grade solo artist for Doordarshan, and registered the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the Sangeet Natak Akademi and Kathak Kendra, Delhi; the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Calcutta; and the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Mumbai. Debashree has performed across India and visited Doha, Kuwait, Bhutan and the UK on performances. |

JAYATI CHAKRABORTY – Administration Jayati trained for several years in Kathak under Smt. Bandana Sen and is at present training under Debashree Bhattacharya. She has been an actress with Utpal Dutt’s People’s Little Theatre since 1993 appearing in various productions such as Kallol, Barricade, Ekla Chalo Re, Titumir, Delhi Chalo, Bibighar and Kirat Parbo. She has also appeared as an actress in several television serials. RUCHIRA DAS – Ruchira has been associated with the administrative side of arts and education programmes and organizations since the early 1990s in Calcutta, Delhi and Bangalore. As part of her long association with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), she was involved with various organisational elements of actual programmes as well as running the central office. She has also worked in similar capacities with the India Literacy project, Bangalore and Happenings, Calcutta. She is associated with the India Theatre Forum on their Arts Management programme. |

| AMLAN CHAUDHURI – Production / Movement Training
Amlan has been associated with the theatre group, ‘Chetana’ since 1998, and with Suman Mukhopadhyay’s ‘Tritiyo Sutra Performance Company’ since their inception. His theatre experience spans a variety of roles in Bengali productions as well as production work for and assistant directorship to Suman Mukhopadhyay in his recent work. His performance training includes mime, Stanislavsky method, contemporary dance, voice work, improvisation and basic experience in Koodiyattam and various martial art forms. |
